The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe 0-5 Head Start Program has been in existence since 1965 we provide free educational services and activites for children ages 0-5 who reside on the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the surrounding service area.
Our center based program provides lesson plans and activites from the "Creative Curriculum" and the Homebase program provides services from the "Parent As Teachers Curriculum".
Early Head Start Transition activites begin six months prior to enrolling into the Head Start program.
The Head Start Program: We have a funded enrollment for 257 children ages 3-5 years there are (8) centers in (7) districts throughout Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
South Dakota centers: Rock Creek Center (Bullhead SD), Bear Soldier Center (Mclaughlin SD), Running Antelope Center (Little Eagle SD), Wakpala Center SD we bus in children from the Kenel and Mobridge area.
North Dakota Centers: Cannonball ND (including Solen ND), Porcupine ND (including children in Selfridge ND), and two centers in Fort Yates ND (A/B and Discovery centers).
The Early Head Start Program: We have a center based program in Fort Yates ND with a funded enrollment of 22 children ages 0-3 years old. In addition we have home-base program with a funded enrollment of 46 children and 7 prenatal women.
